Squeezable Yogurt Tubes

Full-fat yogurt blended with real fruit and a drizzle of honey, piped into reusable tubes for grab-and-go snacking.

4 hrs 10 min beginner Yields 6-8 tubes Keeps 5 days refrigerated, 2 months frozen

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Full-fat plain yogurt (Whole milk, no added sugar or thickeners)
  • 1 cup Fresh or frozen fruit (Strawberries, blueberries, mango, or peaches)
  • 1-2 tbsp Raw honey (Adjust to taste based on fruit sweetness)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract (Pure vanilla, not imitation)

Steps

  1. If using frozen fruit, let it thaw slightly β€” about 10 minutes at room temperature. Fully frozen fruit won’t blend smoothly and adds too much ice crystal texture.

  2. Combine the yogurt, fruit, honey, and vanilla extract in a blender. Blend on high for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth. Taste and adjust the honey β€” some fruits like mango need less, while blueberries may need a touch more.

  3. Pour or spoon the mixture into reusable silicone yogurt tubes. Fill each tube about three-quarters full to leave room for expansion if freezing. Seal the tops firmly.

  4. For refrigerated tubes, chill for at least 4 hours before serving. The mixture thickens as it cools and becomes the perfect squeezable consistency. For frozen tubes, lay them flat in the freezer for at least 4 hours. Pull them out 10-15 minutes before serving so they soften to a push-pop texture.

Why It Works

Commercial squeezable yogurts are marketed as healthy but typically contain added sugars, modified corn starch, artificial flavors, and synthetic colors. Many use low-fat yogurt bulked up with thickeners and sweeteners to compensate for the missing fat. This version starts with full-fat plain yogurt, which provides fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and K2, along with beneficial probiotics for gut health. The fat also keeps kids satiated longer than the sugar-spiked low-fat versions. Real fruit adds natural sweetness, fiber, and antioxidants, while raw honey contributes trace minerals and enzymes that refined sugar simply does not have.

Tips

  • Use full-fat yogurt. Low-fat yogurt is thinner, less satisfying, and compensates for the missing fat with added sugar or thickeners. Full-fat yogurt has a naturally creamy, thick texture that works perfectly in tubes.
  • Freeze for summer lunchboxes. Frozen tubes double as ice packs in the lunchbox. They keep surrounding food cold and thaw to the perfect slushy consistency by lunchtime.
  • Mix up the flavors. Rotate between strawberry, mango, blueberry, and peach to keep things interesting. A tablespoon of cocoa powder blended with banana makes a chocolate version kids go wild for.
