Raspberry Leaf Iced Tea

A refreshing herbal iced tea made with dried raspberry leaf, lemon, and raw honey — a traditional uterine tonic.

70 min beginner Yields 4 cups Keeps 3-4 days refrigerated

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons Dried raspberry leaf (loose leaf)
  • 4 cups Water (filtered, boiled)
  • 1 Lemon (juiced)
  • 2 tablespoons Raw honey (or to taste)
  • as needed Ice

Steps

  1. Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a full boil. Remove from heat and add the dried raspberry leaf directly to the pot or place it in a large tea infuser.

  2. Cover the pot and steep for at least 15 minutes. For a stronger, more mineral-rich infusion, steep for 30-60 minutes. The longer steep extracts more of the tannins and minerals from the leaves, producing a deeper flavor and greater benefit.

  3. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into a heat-safe pitcher, pressing the leaves gently with a spoon to extract the remaining liquid. Discard the spent leaves.

  4. While the tea is still warm, stir in the raw honey until fully dissolved. Add the fresh lemon juice and stir to combine. Let the tea cool to room temperature on the counter, then transfer to the refrigerator to chill.

  5. Serve over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with a lemon wheel or a sprig of fresh mint if desired. The tea should have a mild, slightly earthy flavor with a pleasant tartness from the lemon.

Why It Works

Raspberry leaf has been used for centuries as a uterine tonic that tones and strengthens the muscles of the pelvic region. It is rich in iron, calcium, potassium, and magnesium — minerals that are frequently depleted during menstruation. Drinking it as a cold infusion over ice makes it practical as a daily habit, especially in warmer weather, and the lemon juice adds vitamin C that aids the absorption of the tea’s iron content.

Tips

  • Sourcing. Purchase dried raspberry leaf from a reputable herb supplier, not the tea aisle at the grocery store. Loose leaf is more economical and brews a stronger cup than bagged versions.
  • Overnight infusion. For maximum mineral extraction, steep the leaves in room-temperature water overnight (8-12 hours). This produces the strongest infusion with the highest nutrient concentration.
  • When to drink. Many women drink 1-2 cups daily throughout their cycle. It is especially valued in the luteal phase and during menstruation for its mineral replenishment and uterine toning properties.
