Chamomile Honey Latte

A calming chamomile tea latte with warm milk, raw honey, and a touch of vanilla.

10 min beginner Yields 1 mug Keeps Best served fresh

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Chamomile tea (Or 1 tbsp loose chamomile flowers)
  • 3/4 cup Whole milk (Or oat milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 tbsp Raw honey
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla extract

Steps

  1. Bring 1/4 cup of water to a boil. Pour it over the chamomile tea bag in a large mug and let it steep for 5 minutes. You want this concentrate strong β€” it needs to hold up against the milk.

  2. While the tea steeps, warm the milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Heat until it just begins to steam β€” do not let it boil.

  3. Froth the warm milk using a whisk, a milk frother, or by shaking it vigorously in a sealed jar for 30 seconds.

  4. Remove the tea bag from the mug. Stir in the vanilla extract and raw honey while the tea is still warm enough to dissolve the honey.

  5. Pour the frothed milk over the tea concentrate. Spoon any remaining foam on top.

Why It Works

Brewing a concentrated chamomile base and adding warm milk separately gives you a latte that tastes like chamomile β€” not just warm milk with a faint herbal note. The raw honey adds gentle sweetness and complements chamomile’s floral character, while the vanilla rounds out any bitterness and makes the whole drink feel indulgent. This is a caffeine-free ritual that signals your body it’s time to wind down.

Tips

  • Steep strong. A weak tea base gets lost in the milk. Use minimal water and a full 5-minute steep for a concentrated chamomile flavor.
  • Honey goes in warm, not hot. Let the tea cool for a minute before adding honey. Excessive heat degrades the enzymes and beneficial compounds in raw honey.
  • Make it frothy. Even without a frother, shaking warm milk in a mason jar for 30 seconds creates impressive foam that makes this feel like a coffee-shop drink.
